While I’ve been working on cars and trucks nearly my whole life, modding and restoring, my professional journey began in 2018 when I started working at Malone Tuning (now Tunezilla) as a Technical support representative. I worked my way up the team, eventually leading the product development department.
Highlighting my time with Tunezilla, I helped create their VW and Audi gas tuning product category, breaking some records and introducing some industry firsts. In addition to the software side of ECUand TCU tunes, I developed the Haldex spring upgrade and introduced the now infamous MK8 Bootloader swap allowing us to be more aggressive with the tuning parameters - increasing traction, and 0-60 times. Along with their newly released Tiguan and Atlas TCU tunes as my last project with them.
How did we get here? BurstaSpeed came from necessity. After purchasing a NC1 with a 2.5 swap, the car seemed to be underperforming. Investigating found some hardware related issues, along with the custom tune being sub par. Using my knowledge and experience, I found the missing power and turned the Miata into the pocket rocket that they are expected it to be. I went on to partner with Chikara motorsports providing them with OTS (off the shelf) tunes to partner with their hardware solutions for NC and ND Miata's.
